Unfortunately, it's not as easy as it seems. When certain items are packed the wrong way, or when the wrong packing materials are used, nasty things are bound to happen. Common problems include: over-packing, using the wrong materials, not keeping an inventory, and so on. You get the picture. Luckily, packing is not as hard – as long as you follow some sound advice from the experts. Have you ever wondered what the right way to pack is? Start with the boxes You want boxes that fit the items, and you want strong boxes. It's always tempting to go for the cheaper options, but it's a mistake. You want strength and protection, and it's far wiser to get the sturdy alternative. Protecting your items Your breakables can be protected in various ways – with paper, with bubble wrap, with clothes or linen, with pillows – with anything that can soften the blow of unforeseen impact. However, it's also important to understand that you have to fill the boxes with protective materials to the fullest; not necessarily for extra protection, but to prevent the items from moving around and breaking during transportation. Taping it up Tape your boxes shut – and tape them well, on multiple sides. This will reinforce the basic structure. If you do it correctly (by adding the right labels), you'll also ensure they are positioned the right way during transport (and not upside down or sideways). Books Books are easy to pack, but be careful – they are very heavy when bundled together. Keep the boxes small and compact.
