Architecture Z-House by Hohyun Park + Hyunjoo Kim, South Korea Posted: 30 Sep 2012 05:08 PM PDT Building in the 189,64 sqm area at Gwangju Si-South korea, this house designed by Hohyun Park + Hyunjoo Kim Architect. The Z-House build facing a view of mountains on south side sorrounded by a small house at the top of hill with deep slope. In composition of space, relationship among programs and circulation are played important role. Ground level, which is divided by kitchen/Dining and living area and upper level, which is divided by children rooms and master zone are crossing at division area. By this manner, space is gradually ascending from entry to master zone. High ceiling living area appears through low-rise 3step staircase, which is crossing outside water pond and inside plant area. From living area, space bifurcates to library at lower level and to upper level. Master zone, where is a climax in space scenario, is connected by a corridor and a ramp from children's room at upper level. Master bedroom is entered through open bathroom and powder room and reconnected to entrance corridor
Contrarily, lower level masses, which are covered by basalt, stand rigidly. Water pond and inner plant space are inserted at the crossing point of lower level mass and upper level mass-via The post Architecture Z-House by Hohyun Park + Hyunjoo Kim, South Korea appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
Small Concept of Mako House by Bates Masi Architects, New York Posted: 30 Sep 2012 05:07 AM PDT This is the private small house located in Amagansett, New York and was designed by Bates Masi Architects. In many ways, a small house can be more luxurious than a large one because of the casual simplicity it affords. The owners of this little retreat in the dunes appreciated the lifestyle their quirky but comfortable weekend house provided for many years but its flows need correcting. Space was tight for their growing family, areas of the structure were sagging, and large expanses of glass admitted too much direct sunlight. Also, the form of the house, a series of boxes and turrets, was somewhat awkward looking. The challenge in this major renovation and addition on a restricted site was to add space and amenities while simplifying the form and function of the house into a balanced whole that fit within the owners busy lives. The added spaces tie the house together visually and structurally. The new bedroom and bath on the second floor fills a void in the original composition and takes advantage of the spectacular views of the surrounding dunes. The south wall of this bedroom is a sliding glass door that opens onto a new dock and views of the ocean beyond. The roof cantilevers past the door to form a sunshade that stretches, ribbon-like, past the existing, aster bedroom windows and down to a new storage closet on the first floor. This ribbon visually knits the addition and the existing house together creating a simpler whole. The roof of the bedroom also extends to the west, forming part of the frame for a new screen that addresses the house's structural and sun lighting problems while giving the house its appealing new public face. The screen within is comprised of 16' long vertical boards heated and twisted 180 degrees. Casa Entre Muros by al bordE Architects, Quito Posted: 29 Sep 2012 05:07 PM PDT This is the quite hills house was designed by al bordE (David Barragán y Pascual Gangotena). This House far from the pollution of the city, set in hillside of the Ilaló volcano in a indomitable land Tumbaco, Quito- Ecuador. It's limited by two streams opened to the landscape of the valley. A cut in the sloping land helps to generate a platform for the project and also to get enough raw material to build the gravity walls. The waving form as a result of this cut in the land, defines the position and order of every wall. The succession of these adobe walls and the different heights of the roof caused the division of the house even for the activity or the user. In order to get rid off the domino effect, the gravity walls break their parallelism solving the structure and strengthening the character (spirit) of every "refuge". The furniture is worked inside the thick adobe walls. The long corridor is used as an element that isolates the project from their immediate neighbours and reinforces the autonomy of every space. via The post Casa Entre Muros by al bordE Architects, Quito appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
