Posted: 13 Mar 2013 09:32 PM PDT This “H” shaped Fray León House was designed by 57STUDIO with combination an extremely modern look with garden-like inclusions. By integrating nature into 57Studio's latest design, the architecture firm succeeds in bringing a new and original concept to Chillean architecture. Description from 57Studio The first level is organized around a native Peumo (cryptocaria alba) that goes along with the access from the south. From the hall is emphasized the presence of a huge Avocado tree and the private wing towards the east is bounded by an old Cypress. The public spaces in the west wing open towards the garden through a terrace by the north. The house is preceded by a paved esplanade built to prolong the approach of the visitor towards the access, where the Peumo gains a major presence.” The post Fray León by 57STUDIO appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
Top Tips for Keeping Your Home Clean and Tidy Posted: 13 Mar 2013 06:36 PM PDT When it comes to keeping things clean around the house, the whole family can chip in to do their bit. This can range from washing up piles of dirty dishes, to wiping the table after a meal, or simply getting the vacuum cleaner out now and then. Of course, it isn’t just about keeping the place clean, but also making sure that there isn’t too much mess and clutter lying around. Types of flooring Today’s modern homes are likely to have a mixture of flooring materials rather than simply being carpeted throughout. Laminate flooring is popular in new builds and flats, while original floorboards are now just as likely to be a feature in their own right, as they are to be covered by deep carpets. Many kitchens and bathrooms will also have tiled flooring from a range of materials, including ceramics and stone. Each of these requires a different approach when cleaning. This could mean simply changing the settings on vacuum cleaners so that they don't damage certain services, or investing in products specifically designed to clean wood or carpets. Ceilings and light fittings Of course, it isn’t just flooring that picks up dust and dirt. High ceilings can be difficult to keep free of cobwebs even in the cleanest of homes and out-of-reach lighting can attract insects, especially in the warmer months. Rather than having a ladder indoors, a great alternative solution is to have a small portable set of steps, allowing easy access to those places that are usually just out of reach. Storage No matter how minimal or frugal you think your lifestyle is, we all collect things as we go through life and storage is one of the biggest problems in the modern home. This is especially true for those living in smaller flats, or in houses with a large number of occupants. Having built-in units is an ideal answer, but there are also huge ranges of easy to assemble shelving and cupboards available in a number of different styles and finishes. Another great tip is to invest in some transparent plastic boxes, which are great for everyday items such as children’s toys, making it a quick and easy way to tidy up, thus making it easier to clean too. Regular clean outs Of course, one of the simplest ways to help keep things ship-shape is to have regular de-cluttering sessions, disposing of all the things you no longer need or use. Suburban House C+V in Italy by Giovanni Vaccarini Posted: 13 Mar 2013 05:07 PM PDT Sited in the diffuse sprawl of the Italian Adriatic coast, Giovanni Vaccarini created minimalist suburban house in 540m2 area called House Capece_Venanzi, then called House C+V. The idea is to construct a building with an "inverse" guideline: not oriented towards the city, but towards the hill. The hill becomes a sort of "green sea" on which people can overlook. The main compositional topic of the house is the transposition to macro-scale of the pieces of the Tetris game. The two opposite volumes put in scene two different parts of the building. Their diversity is emphasized using different material treatment: a base covered with stone and a volume of white plaster. The base in stone “is cut” on the west side with a "top to bottom" glass wall. The post Suburban House C+V in Italy by Giovanni Vaccarini appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
