Picture House in Italy by Barilari Architetti Posted: 20 Apr 2013 05:07 AM PDT Italian architects Barilari Architetti finished countryside “Picture House” located in Ripatransone Italy. On the outside, the house camouflages, speaks the language of the surrounding world, made of rural tradition and natural colours. The inside becomes abstract. The outside tradition filters inside just like paintings on the walls. Every function point has a painting to observe. The staircase offers an internal articulate movement which is an invitation to discovery and experimenting. It is an extension of the living room, a place to sit, to climb, to expose. The staircase has small and big steps, it has sittings and ramps. A chaise long for two, to admire the surrounding beauty. The windows attract the landscape; they frame it and project it in the inside. The staircase carries on the outside terrace, creating a sense of continuity between inside and outside, between ground floor, mezzanine and first floor; the same material is used for stairs, sitting, terrace and internal floor. – Photos by Fabio Barilari The post Picture House in Italy by Barilari Architetti appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
Contemporary La Zagaleta House in Spain by Peter Thomas de Cruz Posted: 19 Apr 2013 05:08 PM PDT The La Zagaleta House sited in a Southern Spain hillside, With stunning views across a valley towards distant mountains in the west. Designed by Peter Thomas de Cruz, the core of the house is a top lit double height gallery flooded with natural light that runs across the slope of the site. The prime living spaces are on the west side of the gallery whilst to the east ancillary accommodation and cooling courtyards are set into the hillside. Punched holes in the gallery wall give glimpses of mountain views to the west across the series of interconnected open plan living spaces. The end of the gallery culminates in a large double height living space that leads towards a disappearing edge swimming pool which projects out into space. At first floor level, a bridge open on both sides overlooking the main living space leads to the master bedroom suite, which is connected to a private study below by a spiral staircase wrapped within the 'tail' of the curved wall. Adding to the sense of spectacle the house is dramatically cut in two perpendiculars to the gallery with a glass-floored dining space bridging the gap between the two halves and linking the cooking space to the living space. The parallel gallery sits astride an internal pool and, when all the glazing is fully retracted, both the gallery and the dining space become bridges fully open to the air. The cross ventilation, combined with large cantilevered roof overhangs and balconies which provide solar shading, reduces the reliance on air conditioning and extends the opportunity for comfortable open air living.- Peter Thomas de Cruz The post Contemporary La Zagaleta House in Spain by Peter Thomas de Cruz appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
