Modern House 60 in Toronto By gh3 Architecture Posted: 06 Apr 2013 05:07 AM PDT The House 60 is a renovation and addition to a 50′s suburban house on a large lot in Toronto Canada, renovated by gh3 Architecture. Houses mostly small closed-window, low ceilings-with a traditional plan-living room, separate dining room and cramped kitchen on the ground floor, and a maze of bedrooms on the second. A building is nothing special since the exterior brick front porch with a roof decorated with a shallower slope, wrought iron and aluminum tent. Additions made to the front and back of the house to produce 2 new facade and re-imaging a full house. Most of the houses re-skinned. This, in combination with significant interior insulation installation, greatly reduces energy needs at home. The 2-storey glass wall at the rear of the house, 1st floor glass walls in front, and several skylights to maximize daylight and facilitate the acceptance of passive ventilation. extensive use of glass in the rear allows for the greatest number of views to the park and on the front, front porch serves as a modern, reconnect with the building site and the city. The principle of this living space is flanked on both sides of the longitudinal zone that contains the storage service, the media unit, kitchen, stairs and mechanical rooms, a full set of high-spin rear wall panel. Floor to ceiling glass panels on the ground and second floor strategically to provide safety for children while allowing views through all the principles of living space. - gh3 Architecture The post Modern House 60 in Toronto By gh3 Architecture appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
Green House Design in Bainbridge Island Posted: 05 Apr 2013 05:07 PM PDT Sited on sandy waterfront only minutes from the Bainbridge Island, the architect from ‘Bainbridgeislandmodernhome’ created a contemporary house. This house design with “green concept” future thinking, design with sustainable material and concept. In the exterior, this house is comprised of clear tongue-and-groove cedar that is vertically mounted to the roofline and a rainscreen siding system made of Cembonit panels. The Cembonit panels shield a waterproof membrane that allows an exchange of inside and outside air. The purpose is to create a healthier interior air quality by allowing the home to breath while still providing insulation. The architect designed the ceiling and outdoor soffit as one continuous line so as not to distract the eye from the immensity of the clouds, water & greenery. Between windows, a sleek, tall column houses a two-sided, see-through propane fireplace that provides definition of living spaces, but does not distract from the view. Sliding doors open to one of three ironwood decks. This house accessible setting for swimming, kayaking and long walks on the beach. – Bainbridgeislandmodernhome
