Shell House Design by Design4D, in United Kingdom Posted: 07 Jun 2013 09:43 PM PDT Shell House is design by Design4D, located in United Kingdom. Traditional terraced houses face each other across a street with views between neighbours restricting elevational distances between buildings. The Shell House enables the ground floor plan to extend nearer to the neighbour’s site through its use of Velux rooflights thereby providing ground floor bedroom space as well as views of a low profile ‘landscape’ rather than an unmaintained backyard or neighbouring brickwork elevation. The Shell House is a new form of urban housing which answers the problems of elderly mobility within the home, the aspiration for a garden view without the maintenance upkeep required and the need to build a sustainable community in order to reduce crime. The Shell House is also economical to construct, ecologically and socially sustainable, attractive to all age groups and flexible to changing lifestyles. |
Countryside House Design by Benjamín Murúa Architects, in Chile Posted: 07 Jun 2013 09:43 AM PDT This Countryside House is Designed by Benjamín Murúa Architects, located in Chile. The objective of the project was to reuse and emphasise some elements of the Chilean houses of the early 20th century that were present in the pre-existing building such as patios, galleries and open corridors. The operation was to extend the 2 circulations to the north so as to integrate all with a second "L" where the new 3 bedrooms were included, connecting the old part to the new one with a threshold. |
