Posted: 10 Dec 2013 11:34 AM PST

Choosing a new bath for your home is a big decision. There are literally hundreds of types of baths out there for all types of styles and budgets, and often the only way to know which is the right bath for your bathroom is to go through a wide range of styles to find something that stands out to you.
If you are just getting started with the process of choosing a new bath, here are four of the most interesting styles that will help you to create a stylish and unique atmosphere in your bathroom.

Bathroom 1 4 Popular Types of Baths for Your Home

1. Roll-Top Baths
Roll-top baths are one of the most attractive styles of bath if you are after something really stylish. They are called roll-tops because they have curved edges, which provide a classy appearance and make them particularly comfortable after a long, hard day.
Roll-top baths are often free standing, and this makes them even more attractive. Place yours in the centre of the room and you can design your entire bathroom around it, using the bath as the centrepiece.
One of the issues to consider is the taps. Some of the most stylish designs make use of free-standing pipes, but you could also mount the taps on the wall next to the bath. Some baths even have a special area on the top where the taps can be placed.

Bathroom 2 4 Popular Types of Baths for Your Home

2. Corner Baths
Corner baths look fantastic and can help you to make more use of the space in your bathroom, which is especially useful if the space is limited. Corner baths come in all sorts of styles, including standard rectangular baths as well as baths with curved edges like a semicircle. If you want to keep your bath tub out of the way, but still want it to be a stylish feature of your bathroom, these could be a fantastic option.

3. Stone Baths
Stone baths don't come cheap, but they will last you a lifetime. On top of that, there is nothing quite like lying back and relaxing in a natural stone bath – it really is the height of luxury. Stone is always classy, and a stone bath can look particularly good in your home if you have other stone fittings in your bathroom like a sink. Stone baths tend to be freestanding, which is another element that makes them even more stylish.

4. Whirlpool Baths
If it's luxury you're after, you cannot go much better than opting for a whirlpool bath. Whereas standard baths are great for relaxing in warm water and chilling out, whirlpool baths go one further and provide a whole system of powerful jets to relax and massage your body as you soak. A whirlpool bath is like enjoying your own private spa treatment every day. They come in a wide range of styles, and some of the best come with showers included.
Choose Your Perfect Bath
With so much choice on the market, choosing a new bath is never easy. However, start by looking at some of the above models if you are serious about finding something stylish and classy for your bathroom because you can't go far wrong with any of these.

According to the architects, this design of this project answers to the challenges of the existing site: A narrow lot with 60' of vertical elevation combined with a restrictive Hillside Zoning Ordinance made designing a conventional home impossible. In response the home is divided by use: parents zone including master suite, primary family and entertainment functions, the teenager zone including bedrooms, game room, pool access and one of two garages and guest zone including a bed/bath suite and small great room that doubles as the owner's home office.

Choosing Home Siding Made Easy

Posted: 09 Dec 2013 10:47 PM PST

There are several variables to consider when you are choosing a new siding for your home: price, installation, water-resistance, energy efficiency, appearance, and durability. The best siding for your home depends greatly on where you live and what your preferences are. However, choosing siding for your home does not have to be a difficult task. Below is an overview of the different types of siding you may consider for your home.

House with a Lot of Windows Choosing Home Siding Made Easy

Stucco Siding
Stucco is a house siding option that is available at a reasonable price. Stucco is an extremely versatile substance as it can be used for a variety of applications and there are many ways to make it, with its traditional components being cement mixed with sand or lime. When color is added to the mixture, it becomes homogeneous; diminishing the necessity for future repaints. Stucco can be shaped and textured to achieve different styles.

Wood Siding
Wood siding provides a natural and timeless, beautiful aesthetic to any home. Wood siding is available in many different types of wood, colors, and styles. The common types of wood siding styles include rectangular planks, clapboard, shingles, plywood, shakes, and solid wood. A huge advantage to wood siding is its insulating properties; it does a great job of keeping a home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, saving the homeowner money on energy expenses. Wood is an eco-friendly option for siding not only because it saves on energy, but also as it is a renewable resource and is biodegradable.

Hardie Board Siding
Hardie board siding is made from fiber cement, or a cement mixed with sand, water, and cellulose wood fibers. Hardie board siding gives the beautiful appearance of wood siding while being far more resistant to rot and insects. It is also much more durable than wood siding. Hardie products come in many colors and styles, such as vertical reversed board, horizontal board, and shingles.

Brick Siding
Brick siding is often chosen only for its beautiful aesthetic, but it happens to serve many functional purposes as well. The unique insulation properties of brick siding provide a perpetual stabilization of temperature within the home, lessening energy expenses in the future. Homes with brick siding sometimes have problems with drainage; otherwise, they are easy to maintain as they only call for an occasional washing using a hose. Brick siding is extremely durable and should normally last as long as your home.

Stone Siding
When durability and weather resistance are top priorities, stone siding is the way to go. Stone siding is the most durable and weather resistant option of all siding types. However, it is important to note that stone siding often has the most expensive initial installation cost. Stone siding will benefit you financially in the long run as it will not get damaged through most weather conditions or with time. It also increases the value of your home. Finally, stone siding has insulating properties that will lessen future energy costs.

Essentials of Basement Building

Posted: 09 Dec 2013 10:16 PM PST

Basement is an important place of your home. It is good shelter against heat and cold. The basement construction provides the necessary foundation strength to your home to keep it standing.

Types of basement construction:
Mostly three types of basement construction are used known as precast panel, poured concrete and masonry wall. The poured concrete is the famous choice people made. It begins by pouring the footing for the foundation. Then forms are used to hold the concrete wall and before placing the inside of forms the oiling is necessary. It will prevent them from sticking. The poured concrete walls are stronger than other forms. In precast panel the construction method id almost the same as that of poured concrete. The difference is that they are molded away from building site. The prepared walls are then transported and placed on footer. You will need the help of crane to place the walls on footer. The costs will then increase. The masonry wall method is least expensive one. The walls are made up of concrete masonry units (CMU's) commonly known as cinder blocks. These blocks are of large size and have a hollow interior. The steel rebar and concrete are added to these walls for increasing their durability.

Basement foundations:
For basement foundation you must take care of following things.
Selecting the site; the location of the basement heavily depends on the grade of your lot. A 6' to 10' drop-off in elevation height from front to back or from side to side is a perfect choice for walk out basement.
Which type you need; decide which type you need. The options are walkout or cellar basements. Identifying the building corners and measuring the grades with the help of surveyors you can easily find out what type is good for your lot.
Exterior walls; there are many ways to construct the walls as I told you earlier under the head of types of basement construction. The ideal wall is 12"x16" made up of cinder blocks.
Drainage;proper drainage is very crucial element to consider while building a basement. Gravel drain will positively drain any standing water. A perforated pipe will also do the same.
Basement height; for having an additional living space keep your basement walls taller than the standard height. If you go for the standard eight feet height than after the concrete pouring and other intrusions the height will become lower. I will recommend you to go for nine or ten feet height. Your costs will increase but you will have a very warm and loving basement.

Finishing the basement:
A properly finished basement will provide you with anything you want such as a play room, an office and a home theater. The choice is all yours.
• Before starting any kind of finishing work in your basement please assure that it is dry. Inspect the exterior walls for moisture and also check the ground. It should slope away from the foundation walls.
• Also make sure that your electrical work has been done according to the standard code in your area.
• To keep the moisture out use the ploy ethane sheet in the walls.
• If you want to have access to your electrical and plumbing systems suspend the ceiling preconceptions.
• Go for the recessed lightening in your basement.
• Use baseboard heating to add warmth.
• After that bring the furniture according to the room you want your basement to be. If it will become kids room place interesting games here for them. To give your basement a fabulous look place cheap canvas printsand hang them on basement walls.
These are some points to consider while building and finishing your basement. Follow them and make your basement an extra living space.
