5 Tips to Prepare Your Bedroom for the Year 2014 Posted: 28 Jan 2014 09:44 PM PST It's the New Year, so it's time to make some changes. Let's start with your bedroom and bring it forward in time, because right now it's stuck in the past. Remodeling your bedroom can have a positive impact on your life. For one, you won't wake up feeling like a loser. This New Year, transform your life by transforming your bedroom. You may be King of the castle, but your bedroom is the throne room. Here are a few things you can do to update your bedroom for 2014. It's time to take those ridiculous posters and strange colors off your bedroom walls. Are you still stuck in the 90's? The color of the future is white, not red or blue. White is modern, white is elegant and white is all encompassing. A white room is a picture of purity and calm. Buddha had his Bodhi tree and you have your white room. Once the remodeling is done it'll only be a matter of time before you too achieve enlightenment. Look at most modern designs, either in magazines or catalogues. They all feature rooms that have been painted white. Make Some Room I like having extra space in my room. It makes me feel free. When your room's cluttered with furniture your mind feels cluttered too. You can't think in an environment like that. If you want your creativity to soar, you need a spacious den. Your mind is like a stallion and it needs room to gallop. People are often under the wrong impression that the more furniture you have the better your room looks. On the contrary it makes your room look small. You should make creative use of space to get the most out of it. Get Automatic Blinds It's 2014 and you have a whole range of gadgets available at your disposal. My favorite among them for a remodeling project would be automatic blinds. It's the perfect tool to wake you up in the mornings. Instead of setting the alarm you can set the automatic blinds to open at the break of dawn. The sunlight slowly creeping into your room is a much more subtle wakeup call than that horrendous alarm clock that you have on your night stand. Shades that close at the push of a button are incredibly useful. After all you never know who's watching, there are a lot of voyeurs out there. Change Your Sheets If you're changing your room you might as well change your quilt cover set. There should be nothing left from your old room to haunt your memory. Spend a little extra money and buy high quality quilts. When you're sleeping you should feel like you're wrapped in a cloud. A good night's sleep is essential or you'll wake up cranky and depressed. We all know how those days pan out. You get absolutely no work done and then you end up getting fired for calling your boss a moron. A good quilt can save you from the unemployment line. Get an Electric Fireplace Who wouldn't want a fireplace in their house? However it's too much of a hassle. And it's not exactly in with the times. What you need is an electric fireplace. It's perfect for people living in apartments, because it doesn't require a chimney. Unfortunately Santa Claus won't be able to deliver your Christmas presents. However, you'll still have a fireplace. It's easier to install than a traditional fireplace, so you won't have to break down a wall for it. It has all the benefits of a fireplace with none of the disadvantages. With your new bedroom you'll be ready for the New Year. Just make sure that this year is better than the last one. Your life's trajectory should be moving upwards, not downwards. And as the years pass by your room should get progressively better. It'll be like a litmus test to see how your life's going. If you're worried about the expense, don't be. You can't put a price on progress can you? Once your career takes off you'll make that money back in no time. It's only the beginning of the year so there's no need to be so stingy. Author Bio: |
