Unique Diamond Engagement Rings Posted: 07 Apr 2014 09:00 PM PDT When we talk about the unique diamond engagement rings, there will be a question from us such as; what is unique diamond? What is the different with the antique one? And how much is it cost? Well, to answer all those questions, you better read it bellow.
Unique diamond can be described as one of the modern design of the diamond. Why is it so? It is because in the unique diamond, you can see that there are many kinds of design that is not belong to the antique one. Here, you can see that this diamond is typically has modern cut which is pointing to the sparkling of the diamond and the beauty of the metal. Typically, the design of the unique diamond engagement rings are complex and some with shimmering of the diamond around the metal.
The differences the unique diamond and antique diamond are in the cut and the "fire" of the diamond itself. The modern diamond has more complex cut than the antique one. It is because the modern one needs more sparkling diamond than the antique one. Meanwhile the antique diamond is pointing to maximize the carrat weight. So that's why the antique diamond will have soft glows but have great carrat weight. To compare between the cut of the modern cut and antique one, it will be described as bellow:
In modern cut there will be 3 main parts. There are the top of the diamond which is called as crown, the bottom of the diamond which is called as the pavilion and a part between the crown and the bottom of the diamond which is called as girdle. A modern brilliant cut diamond has 57-58 facets which mean that the surfaces were polished. Then, we can find the flat part on the top of the diamond which is called as table. The table is the largest facet of the diamond. Besides, you will also find culet. Culet is a tiny facet at the very bottom of the pavilion. But, not all the diamond has culet. You may pay attention the pavilion if you want to know whether it has culet or not. If the pavilion comes to a point at the bottom of the diamond, it means that the diamond doesn't have a culet. But if the pavilion does not come to a point, it means it has the cullet. If you want to know about the grade of the modern cut diamond, you may consider many characteristics such as table, size, crown angle, pavilion depth, girdle thickness, polish and symmetry. So, if you want to have the unique diamond engagement rings, do not only pay attention to the glow of the diamonds.
Antique diamond can described as "old" diamond but it doesn't mean that it is old fashion. Why do I call it old? I called it old because the mining of these diamonds were started by the year of 1500s. So, as you know that this antique one does not point to the glow, but to the weight and the quality of the stones. But, to differ the cut with the modern cut diamond one, there are four cut in this antique diamond. There are; rose cut, old mine, old European, and also single cut. The cut of these diamonds are simpler than the modern one. Such example for single cut, you will only an octagonal girdle, a table, eight bezel facet and 8 pavilion facets. And yes, it is very simple cut.
If you want to know the comparison between the two diamond types, there will be various. But mostly, the modern one will be cheaper than the old one. Even some modern one can be more expensive than the antique one. Usually it is because of the metals and the others influence. |
