Factory: home and Studio of Ricardo Bofill Posted: 12 Jan 2015 03:41 AM PST Apocalyptic, unclassifiable, spectacular, stunning… The truth is that the descriptions left us short to describe the magnificent project of architectural rehabilitation carried out by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, to condition the cement factory at the beginning of the 20th century where the prestigious catalan architect today has day his Studio and residence.
Under the name of The factory, this spectacular enclave consisted of no less than thirty original silos of whom were demolished twenty-two. Rehabilitation took place in 1975, but today this building is as impressive as it was when equipped. The catalan architect discovered the factory, located in St. Just D’Esvern (Barcelona) in 1973. Immediately set up his team to convert it in your home and center of operations. The rehabilitation lasted two years, after which the ruins became a landmark and an architectural landmark. Both inside and out, seems that we find within an engraving of Escher: stairs not climbing to nowhere, buttresses of cement that do not support anything… Eight silos which were preserved became offices, a laboratory of models, archives, library and a huge space known as “The Cathedral”, intended for lectures, meetings and screenings. The residence of the architect is also on the farm, surrounded by a wonderful and wild garden full of eucalyptus trees, cypresses, olive trees and palm trees. An amazing place that is the perfect residence for all a “superhero” of the Spanish avant-garde architecture.

Wardrobe Piccadilly: modern tradition Posted: 11 Jan 2015 03:43 PM PST This unclassifiable wardrobe can be savored more or less, but that we can not put into question is its ability to take over the role of any environment. Mix the latest modernity and the classical tradition of its design makes it a piece surprising, in addition to keeping a big fit inside.
Locker Piccadilly, so called, is intended to be part of a living room of luxury, where will shine with their own light. I confess that, despite its strange appearance, I in I love him…
Once again, the Portuguese furniture company Boca do Lobo once again impact with its luxurious furniture designs. Furnishings that blend sumptuous materials with rustic elements, and designs inspired by classicism with colors and details of art. The Piccadilly Cabinet is inspired by architecture and the perspectives from the famous Piccadilly Circus in London, which is reflected in their architectural details: mouldings, friezes, arches… These details, that Yes, have passed through the filter of digital art, that has “pixelated” furniture turning pixels into cubic reliefs.
According to its creators, this cabinet represents “a moment in time frozen between two generations”. If its exterior is radically different to any design which we referred to before, the inside of the Cabinet is balanced and harmonious. His Fund of mirror doubles volumes, increasing the effect of trompe-l’oeil that offers all the furniture, and also with drawers and shelves for storage. Finally, noteworthy finish in emerald green (color of fashion this year) and wood root that decorates the wardrobe: a classic combination, the maximum decorative luxury paradigm.
