Expansion of the offices of ArcelorMittal in Avilés Posted: 16 Apr 2016 04:41 AM PDT The need for the Global Center of r & d of the company ArcelorMittal to expand the workspace of its headquarters in Avilés (Asturias), was the origin of this project of renovation and expansion of the building, carried out by the study of architecture Baragaño. The original building was aesthetically heavy, with facades of concrete and brick, and had already been expanded in the 1970s. The project name is InsideOUT (in – out), and interestingly is inspired by the recipe of the uramaki or Japanese sushi rolls, in which rice is placed outside and wrapping the nori seaweed, contrary to what is common. The vision of this concept was moved to the project, both in the interior and exterior of the building and always in relation to the city of Avilés and material of construction (steel).
