Icons of architecture III: Philip Johnson Posted: 30 Apr 2016 04:41 AM PDT This architect was born in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, in 1906. Amateur by the construction he decided to study architecture and subsequently conducted a master’s degree in history of architecture in one of the universities most famous and prestigious in the world, the University of Harvard. Just finish the race, she was offered the post of director of the Department of architecture of the Museum of modern art in New York, of recent creation, and of course I accepted the position.
In the years following his graduation, he devoted himself to anything but his true profession, architecture. He was author, critic, historian and director of the Museum until he was 36 and concentrated on the architecture and designed his first building. From here, his career took off and left us many fascinating buildings. Reminds this American especially by The Glass House, a House that was built in the year 1949 for itself and which lived until his death in 2005, at 98 years of age. Built in Connecticut, United States, it is a benchmark for the use of glass. This creation focuses on the characteristics of the glass and to the creation of a subtle play of light and Visual images, reflecting the nature and movement of any object on the outside and inside. The structure of the building consists of glass and painted carbon steel. It is soil is brick and inside the space is open and is divided by means of shelves and cabinets.
In our country also left a legacy, the Puerta de Europa towers in Madrid. The post Icons of architecture III: Philip Johnson appeared first on Belleinterior. |
Isolée, a solar retreat “and removable” Posted: 29 Apr 2016 04:40 PM PDT We love Dutch Tjep, study designs full of originality and virtually all the clubs that play: from furniture to interior design, architecture and sustainability. So we have decided to give them the prominence of our blog today. The creative intelligent Tjep have designed a refuge called Isolée, sustainable and powered by solar energy that can be put anywhere.
Those who enjoy a large garden or land and want to place a small house for guests, Isolée will find a perfect solution for your needs. Isolée has it all: to a point of sophistication.
This eco-refugio combines a fantastic design with intelligent technology, and feeds the power collected by the solar panels placed on its cover. According to the designers Tjep, this construction aims to create an ecologically sustainable retreat to escape “the modern world”. Habitat created by Isolée has not just impact on the environment: does not sit on the ground fixed and immutable fate which rests on four legs, como if it were a closet.
Isolée is with large spans opening to the landscape, extending the length of the building with a simple movement. He also wears an intelligent heating system integrated in the structure of the House itself, fueled by the “solar tree” which you can see at the top. According to Tjep, “Isolée create permanence, but always with a beauty achieved through engineering, aesthetically inspired by nature and that harmonises the relationship between man and his environment”.
