Villa for three generations in A Coruña Posted: 13 Jun 2016 04:40 AM PDT To see amazing houses it is not necessary that we refer to Seoul, Seattle or Los Ángeles. In Spain there are really incredible homes that are worth knowing. One of them is the House V, a project for the study of architecture dose in Oleiros, A Coruña. The House V consists of rehabilitation, adaptation and extension of an existing holiday home made at the beginning of the 1960s. The family that inhabits the House has almost fifty years spending the vacation in it and, as you can imagine, this time the number of members of the family has been growing. However, the House had always been equal. Until now. With the intention to make a place where three generations of the same family still enjoying their holidays, dose has made a home for the two younger generations , consisting of a side wing with the old building on its Northwest edge and whose roof, in response to the existing topography, serves private garden to the current housing. The original housing is the uses of family and social interaction as well as the rooms of the first generation. Thus, each Member of the family has their independence, but forming part of a single set. On the other hand, a multi-layer wall defined by a unique constructive detail, which serves both structure and thermal and environmental, wrap winds to embrace the different events that happen in the House. Apple Store: science fiction in Shanghai Posted: 12 Jun 2016 04:41 PM PDT The Apple stores are characterized above all regarding their architectural concept. All of them are designed for astounding and amazing, breaking the usual urban landscape to create structures that seem to come a few years. These curious places arouse passions and hatreds but of course architecturally many of them are authentic landmarks that we can not help but admire. The Apple Store that was built in the District of Pudong (Shanghai, China) is an example than this of what we speak. It has been designed for Apple Inc. by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson architecture, responsible for architecture Studio also of the iconic Apple Store of Fifth Avenue from NY. This impressive office (at least for the exterior-superior part) is characterized especially by its entrance, a huge cylinder glass of nearly 10 meters high and you can see in these photographs. This transparent structure stands on a large urban square in the Middle, placed itself under a circular patio slightly sunk into the surface. The idea is that visitors have access to the offices through the glass cylinder and be to the Apple store on the bottom floor. This journey is made through a spiral of glass that seems to lead directly to the inside of a spaceship… Nothing further from the truth. While the establishment is very large and bright, its austere, minimalist design is intended for perfect display of Apple products, leaving for abroad architectural virtuosity. Photos:Roy Zipstein.
