The architect client is decided to create a new space which is supported their evolving lifestyle after they spending some time in an existing house on the land. The crucial thing which is influences on the project's design development is the wind pattern and the existing tree canopy. A connection within the outdoors is encouraged by the exterior circulation paths and separate living space. The project materials which have chosen by the architect is include cast in place concrete, wipe siding and Rheinzink metal siding.

Contemporary Mixed Use Townhouse Design by Dennis Gibbens Architects Posted: 19 Apr 2012 06:28 PM PDT Located in Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Venice, California, Dennis Gibbens architects have completed a modern contemporary house design constructed of board-formed poured-in-place concrete. This mixed-use project is situated in the middle of a stretch along the boulevard known for its many recent examples of architectural experimentation. The ground floor houses parking and a single retail tenant; the two upper floors contain a single-family residence. The public residential spaces are on the second floor surrounding a private courtyard. The third floor contains bedrooms and a large exterior dining and entertainment deck. Other exterior walls are glass or stucco – non-corrosive materials practical for their use near the ocean. The roughly textured surfaces of the concrete – both inside and out – contrast sharply with the smooth and highly refined finish materials, which include tile, stone, stainless steel, stained woods, and smooth terrazzo floors.
