Top reasons to choose wood flooring for your commercial space Posted: 27 Feb 2013 04:53 AM PST If you’re considering revamping your office, or you’re in the process of deciding on a design scheme for a new commercial space, wood flooring is a fantastic addition in my opinion. To find out more about why it’s such a good choice (and to get some great ideas for your office!) read my quick guide. 1) Versatility Personally, I think choosing a floor that can act as something of a blank canvas, yet still look striking, is crucial in any commercial space. By picking wood flooring, you automatically tick this box. How? Well, for a start, wood floors go with pretty much any kind of decor. For instance, if you’re looking for something dramatic and modern, you can choose a dark oak floor with a glossy finish and pair it with white furniture and metal accessories and voila – your trendy office will be a reality. Or, if you want to create something light and airy, choose a paler floor. If you’ve managed to snap up a space with a high ceiling and large windows, you’ll end up with a really spacious, invigorating office with this combination. Of course, this versatility is also handy in that in means, should you wish to make a dramatic change to your commercial space in the future, you probably won’t need to change the floor, since it can work well with so many different decors. So, it can be an economical choice in the long run too. 2) To encourage creativity This might sound a little odd at first, but I think wood floors are a fantastic choice if you’re trying to achieve a creativity-friendly space. Grey, plain and sterile-looking offices aren’t exactly the most inspiring places to work in, whereas homelier, quirkier designs can help boost motivation. Choose a wood floor and, as mentioned above, you’ve got a great blank canvas for achieving a truly striking interior. Plus, wood floors have a much more welcoming look than worn-out old carpets or cheap-looking commercial floors. 3) Underfloor heating The next benefit of picking wood flooring – provided you choose an engineered wood floor, that is – is the option to add underfloor heating. This can be an excellent way to ensure the space is warm enough in the winter. Indeed, I always think that large open-plan offices in particular don’t hold heat very well, and a chilly atmosphere isn’t likely to be conducive to productivity among your workforce. The good thing about underfloor heating is that each worker will feel the benefits – just remember that this kind of flooring should never be combined with rugs! 4) Create a polished look perfect for welcoming clients As well as considering the comfort of your workers, I think it’s essential to think about how your office will look to any clients who come to see you – particularly if this will be a regular occurrence. This is an especially crucial consideration for creative companies, as an uninspiring workspace is unlikely to encourage potential clientele to use your services. Indeed, if you do own a creative company, take extra care when picking out your wood floor. As mentioned above, something dark and glossy can creative a really sleek, modern appearance, while more rustic finishes can also be used to great effect – the key thing to remember is to choose something that creates continuity with your overall brand. Firms like the Solid Wood Flooring Company offer a huge variety of hues and finishes, so make sure you take into account all your options before deciding on one. |
