Colorful Educational Centre-Day Care de kleine Kikker by Drost + van Veen architecten Posted: 03 Apr 2013 05:07 AM PDT This is new colorful building conceived as a contemporary type of farm located in 520 sqm of De Uithof, Utrecht, The Netherlands and was designed by Drost + van Veen architecten. The coloured facade and the aluminium roof contrast the rustic environment. The silhouette of the pointed roof refers to the existing farm building. Towards the back of the building, it transforms into a modernistic, functional building, with a flat roof, instead of a farm. The new extension contains four children's groups, age 0-4. The building is symmetrical and is two stories high. The organization of the day-care is mirrored across the building's central axis. The front is reserved for the employees, the middle zone is used as playground and entrance, while the zone at the back contains the children's groups. The big balcony at the back of this zone creates the outdoor space for the children on the first floor and also functions as a sun canopy against direct sunlight for the ground floor. Stylish Roman Marble House Design in Madrid by A-cero Architects Posted: 02 Apr 2013 05:08 PM PDT This modern and stylish house created by Spanish architecture firm A-cero Architects in Pozuelo de Alarcón Madrid ( see another post of  Pozuelo de Alarcón house by A cero in housedesignidea.com). This house design in three plants, dividing its space in differentiated areas: a buried floor where is the facilities rooms, holiday room, movies room and a gymnasium with dressing room. The exterior walls are made of travertino Roman marble, solved in a system of ventilated front that it allows to put in value the aesthetic qualities of the natural stone, making use at the same time of technical qualities of this constructive system as its climatic efficiency and easy maintenance. In most of the interior spaces the floors are finished in black granite, while in some points in the first floor the travertino marble is used too in order to give unit to the housing set. The first floor, where the access is located, developed in different levels separating different functions: garage, kitchen with several rooms like a larder, a cellar, a cleaning utensils room, office, service area with laundry, drying area and a safety room; furthermore, there is an area for the principal bedroom with its dressing-rooms, baths, gymnasium and swimming pool. The housing presents a closed face towards the exterior, solved with a series of concentric curved walls of natural stone that produce open spaces more intimate and private in its interior area.
