Summer Beach House Design in Fire Island by Studio27 Architecture Posted: 12 May 2013 05:07 PM PDT This modern beach house situated in resort community of the Pines on Fire Island New York, designed by Studio27 Architecture. This project inserts some of the "spirit of the shore" into this "Yankee thriftiness" residential typology. Common detail and material remain, but the volume of the house is expressed as a skin, rather than as a box-like container. The skin keeps the heat in. Over time, the skin of woven cedar boards will assume the same patina as neighboring houses. Large windows are introduced to reveal a luxurious light interior. The organization of the plan creates a direct link between the occupation of the different spaces during the day and the sun's path. Program adjacencies were carefully studied before identifying the swimming pool as the center of social interaction. Interior rooms and exterior spaces were arranged to track the path of the summer sun, connecting it to the rhythm of daily life: breakfast by the pool; cocktails and socializing on the front terrace; and evening dinners in the west light. Sleeping rooms form the backstage of the house. – Photos by Hoachlander Davis Photography The post Summer Beach House Design in Fire Island by Studio27 Architecture appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |

Modishness Space Invader Couch by Igor Chak Posted: 11 May 2013 05:07 PM PDT The living room decorating themes and furniture that are most common amongst people today often come in several ways, but most likely deal with work, play, or family. Each category shares some similarities when it comes to living room decorating themes, but each is distinctively different in other ways. The Space Invader Couch, “Characterized by originality and modishness, unconventional“, basically a space invader turned in to a couch, a very fashionable and hard to pass by couch. The couch is all leather, with two glass surfaces. Although it might look uncomfortable it's actually really soft, mainly lined and made with memory foam. Plus this is something different from a conventional couch. -[Igor Chak ] The post Modishness Space Invader Couch by Igor Chak appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
