Single Family House in Ukraine by rozdov&Partners Posted: 14 May 2013 05:07 AM PDT This modern single family residence situated on the active slope, on the border between private residential development and botanical garden in Kharkov Ukraine. The layout strategy proposes maximum contact with the park by exploiting the view from all internal spaces. It was essential to highlight the active terrain by means of landscape elements and volumes. The main volume is moved to the back of the site, its closed parts being as close to the neighbours as possible. As a result, the house enjoys a lot of free space to admire its own garden, that flows down to the green mass of the park, creating a single green space. The composition consists of two cubes – the manor and the garage unit with guest rooms on top – which are threaded on the line of a glazed passage. The garden and the internal spaces enjoy utmost protection from the outer environment. First, this is the city botanical garden. The manor enjoys a wonderful view of its green groves lying below. Besides, the house has its own sloping garden. Four elegant rectangular terraces emphasize the difference between the levels, presenting a peculiar contrast with the natural landscape. Different orientations of terraces create a dynamic connection between the house and its surrounding. The terraces grow wider as they descend the hill creating more usable space. Terraces make a characteristic feature of the house. The main volume is surrounded by two rows of wooden terraces. The third garden is a real secret garden – a cozy nook, shrouded in mystery and romance. One can get into this chamber garden only via the terrace formed by the difference in layers. The fourth garden is a green heart of the house. The patio garden is situated in the very core of the multifunctional living space, which represents an ideal square. Around the winter garden there is a sequence of zones, each having its our function: kitchen, dining room, lounge, collection of traditional Russian samovars, office, swimming pool. The members of the family can be in different zones but at the same time stay in one single common space. Visual connections between all internal spaces intersect the layer of the winter garden with tropical plants. The winter garden also plays a major role in the gallery of the second floor where the bedrooms are situated. – Photos by Andrey Avdeenko [ rozdov&Partners ] The post Single Family House in Ukraine by rozdov&Partners appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
Spectacular Iseami House by Robles Arquitectos Posted: 13 May 2013 05:07 PM PDT The Iseami House rests on a hill above the ocean on the Peninsula de Osa in Costa Rica, a location with 5% of the world's biodiversity– yet 20km away from the nearest town. To build such a home, Robles Arquitectos were tasked with designing a fully grid-free, self-sustainable structure that could manage the demands of this hot, humid environment. This house uses both passive and active measures to fit the needs of its occupants. The home's electricity is powered by an on-site hybrid electric system, using solar energy and hydroelectric energy as a power source. Passively, the home has been given an open, airy design that allows breezes and cross-winds to maintain a comfortable base temperature. While it's power system is sustainable, its construction practices were as well. The home was built in sections off-site then assembled like a prefab later. The white steel and glass design yields open views of the environment and the sea below. The first level is open to a large patio and swimming pool, great for entertaining and relaxation. The upper level, raised above the forest floor, is a private residence with all the creature comforts of an urban setting. This one, however, is fully self-sustainable and miles away from its closest neighboring town. – Photos by Juan Robles The post Spectacular Iseami House by Robles Arquitectos appeared first on Home & House Design Ideas | Interior. |
