Holiday Beach House in Omaha Beach by Kamermans & Co Architects Posted: 22 May 2013 05:07 AM PDT The Omaha Beach House was designed by Kamermans & Co Architects with total 293.5 m2 building area near the Omaha beach. The design challenge was to make the most of the view seeing there were two adjoining sites in front. The maximum height permitted for the beachfront houses is 6 m, and 7.5 m for the second row. This second row 875 m2 site has its own access strip to the beach, which creates a (future) viewing corridor. A key element in the brief and concept design was to make the best possible use of this corridor. Which is reflected in the design. The height restrictions and viewing corridors lead to a split-level design with four different floor levels. The different functions of the house were given their own shapes and claddings, resulting in a sculptural and playful composition. The architects also did the interior and landscape design, and designed the sofa's, coffee tables, dining table, audio/visual cabinet, barstools, bedside tables, bed-heads and outdoor seat. Sustainable features include rainwater collection/storage for all water use, solar/electric water heating, passive solar space heating with heat-pump backup and natural space cooling.
