Designed by Tyler Engle Architects, This Seattle Institution looked to expand within the Pike Place Market without loosing its lively and inviting dining experience. The new space tripled the seating and preserved the celebrated character of the original restaurant.True to its history, seating wraps the Kitchen and Bar keeping the patrons engaged with the chef and staff. Tables along the perimeter offer views to the market and the Olympics beyond. The expansion retained the landmark building's historical character and the unique experience which made Matt's in the Market a Seattle institution.

| Albert Park Residence by Nicholas Murray Architects Posted: 27 Oct 2013 09:43 AM PDT Designed by Nicholas Murray Architects, Juxtaposing heritage materials and form with a post-modern language can be challenging. In this project an honest approach was taken by restoring the front four rooms of an Italianate Victorian double fronted house and returning it to its original splendor. A full width linear pond marks the transition to the modern more informal living spaces which flows onto the garden and lap pool.
From Architects : ” Juxtaposing heritage materials and form with a post-modern language can be challenging. In this project an honest approach was taken by restoring the front four rooms of an Italianate Victorian double fronted house and returning it to its original splendor. A full width linear pond marks the transition to the modern more informal living spaces which flows onto the garden and lap pool. A glazed walkway crossing the pond invokes a sense of fusion and transparency through the spaces. The rebuilding of double storey heritage stables used for accommodating vehicles and as a separate guest quarter corresponds with the Victorian street context to the rear of the site. This project was complex at every stage. Initially, during the design stage we had Heritage Victoria, local council, site constraints and an ambitious client brief to consider. The construction stage also presented difficulties due to excavation of pool and basement in a relatively confined area.
