Compared to an inground swimming pool, an above-ground type costs less and takes only a few hours to install. It has gained popularity as it gives so much fun and entertainment value for less. There are different ways of building an above-ground pool. Regardless of how it is built, it would require an above-ground pool ladder to provide swimmers access. For example, a deck ladder is specifically made for a deck around the pool. This type of above-ground pool ladder is made of steel, stainless steel or hard plastic. A deck ladder allows users to descend from a deck outside of the pool walls. A deck can be built around the perimeter partially or fully covering the walls. The above-ground pool ladder specially made for this structure usually has two handrails with steps ranging between three and five. Handrails are fastened to the deck by bolt. There is also another type of above-ground pool ladder that looks like a staircase. Some users may not be comfortable with using ladders. Compared to a deck ladder, the stairs type of above-ground pool ladder is more secure and comfortable. Handrails are built like those of deck ladders but would extend up to the last step which is at the bottom of the pool. This is ideal for older swimmers and those with injuries, making access easy and safe. Have you ever been to a wedding reception? You may have seen how a wedding cake looks like. There is an above-ground pool ladder that resembles a wedding cake and rightfully so, is called the wedding cake steps. The tiered steps that look like a wedding cake lead pool users from the deck to the bottom of the pool. A handrail made of metal is installed to provide stability to pool users. The first step from the top is the smallest tier and it begins at the surface of the water. As the steps go lower, the tiers get bigger until it reaches the bottom of the pool. In cases where in the above-ground pool does not have a deck, an A-frame ladder is exactly what you need. The shape of the ladder resembles the letter A. This is designed to fit over the pool wall of an above-ground swimming pool. Since there is no deck around the pool perimeter, the pool user climbs up the ladder from the bottom of the pool wall exterior. Upon reaching the top of the pool wall, the pool user then descends on the other side of the ladder. An A-frame above-ground pool ladder is usually made of strong plastic materials. The ladder has a capacity to bear as much as two average-weight people. Perhaps the safest type of above ground swimming pool ladder is the pool entry system. It is a ladder system that utilizes stairs on both sides. There are handrails that lead from the bottom of the pool exterior up to the edge of the pool wall and down to the bottom of the pool water. Above Ground Pool Installation Posted: 06 Jan 2014 05:10 AM PST What Is Involved in Above Ground Pool Installation? When deciding to add a pool to the yard, consumers often compare in and above ground pool installation. Once looked upon with disdain, above ground styles are now quite popular. They are less expensive than inground versions and can be easily removed. Above ground types last for up to two decades and require minimal ongoing maintenance. Consumers can purchase a kit that includes accessories like a vacuum, ladder, automatic cleaner, and even a heater. Prior to selecting an above ground swimming pool, consumers should research city regulations regarding installation. These may determine the size, shape, and whether a fence is required. The diameters range from 12 to 30 feet and feature oval or round shapes. Depths vary by model, with small-diameter pools most suitable for young children. A pool with an 18-foot or larger diameter is the most popular for all ages. The pool is supported by vertical steel posts and steel walls, making it very sturdy. Once the size and shape are determined, a professional comes to the home and conducts a pre-inspection of the area where the structure will be installed. A layout diagram is then made to illustrate the positioning of the pool and equipment. The area of the yard for installation is then excavated, but only to a depth of six inches, since it will rest above the ground. Pool bottom and screenings are constructed and the walls and fittings are assembled. Plumbing work includes the line from the pool to the filter and another line to return the water to the pool. The coping, liner, and, sometimes, a precast pad for the heater and filter are installed. All construction debris is vacuumed from the area, leaving the area clean and your new pool ready to be filled. The process of filling an above ground style is a bit different. The owner arranges for a truck or hydrant to deliver the water. Although water from your hose could do the job it would take a much longer period and of course water consumption. Once it is filled, a water sample should be taken to the specialty store where you purchase your chemicals. The professionals there will test it and recommend certain chemicals to balance the water. Ongoing water testing and treatment keeps water balanced so it is safe for swimming. This is an important part of pool ownership because unbalanced water can be a health hazard and may damage the pool components. Some building code regulations require a fence around the edge of the pool. Maintenance-free resin fencing is one option and many styles can be installed by the owner. Some brands feature a universal mounting bracket that makes fencing compatible with most above ground models. Modular packaging allows the owner to purchase only the number of fence sections needed. Proper installation ensures that the above ground pool is situated correctly in the yard. When the owner follows the recommended maintenance guidelines, the pool will last for many years. If there comes a day when the unit is no longer wanted, the structure can be removed and discarded. Everything about owning this type of pool is simple. Pool owners can choose from an array of pool accessories – from expensive models to economy brands that will do the job adequately without added frills. Pool Liners: It is easy to install overlap swimming pool liners designed for above ground pools. These liners overlap the top part of your pool wall and can be trimmed on the outside to finish off the look. Beaded liners are a premium liner style that fits tightly into a beaded receiver track. The different types of pool accessories on the market for above ground pools include vinyl pool patch kits to fix rips in a liner, pool liner floor pads to give the bottom of your pool a soft feeling instead of stepping on the grass or rocks underneath, rubber ladder pad to cushion the pool’s ladder when rubbing against the liner and side of the pool, and pool liner covers that you can put into the bottom of the pool before installing your liner (it can add longevity to your pool liner and reduce bottom wear and tear). More consumers are turning to liners that are decorated with designs such as sea creatures, and painted designs giving the feel of being in a Roman bath.
