In 1991, the company started to develop the HK36R a rotax 912 powered motor glider, which was the precursor of the company's first production general aviation aircraft, the DV20 Katana. In 1992, to supply the North American market more directly, the company opened a second manufcturing facility in London, Ontario, Canada. The Canadian operation used the name Dimona Aircraft until it was changed to Diamond Aircraft in 1996. The Austrian-built DV20 Katana was certified in 1993, and the first Canadian-built DA20 model was delivered in 1995. 1997 marked the delivery of the 500th DV20 and the introduction of the DA20-CI. In 1998 the parent company was renamed in Austria was renamed Diamond Aircraft GmbH to better fit the North American operation's naming. In December 2008, the Diamond Aircraft faced difficult situation on its productions due to the economic ressesion. The company laid-oof 100 workers from the Austrian's facility and more from London-based employeess in 2011. On November 2011 the company announced that a majority share of Diamond Aircraft Holdings, Canada, had been sold to Medrar Financial Group, an investment company based on Dubai. The investment, along with gradually improving economic conditions, seemed to increse the customer confidence as the company registered a 33% increase in sales in 2011 over the previous year. THE Diamond DA20 is a two-seat tricycle gear general aviation aircraft designed for both military and civil flight training, and also operated by private individuals.
The aircraft is developed by Siemens, EADS and Diaomnd Aircraft to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by up to 25 percent, using a seria hybird drive that turns the aircraft's prop with a Siemens 70 kW (94 hp) electric motor, from power generted by a 40 hp Austro Engines Wankel rotary engine and generatore, stored in batteries.
The Diamond DA 40 Star is an Austrian four-seat, single engine, light aircraft constructed from composite materials.
The airplane is a four seat, twin engine propeller-driven which is it airframe is molded largerly of composite materials.
The Diamond DA50 and DA50 Magnum are five-place single-engine composite aircraft which introduced in 2006. The project was later put on hold and the current status of the product is unknown.
The Diamond HK36 Super Dimona is an extensive family of Autrian long-wing, T-tailed, two-seat motor gliders that were designed by Wolf Hoffmann and currently produced by Diamond Aircraft.
Diamond DV20 A-1 "Katana" is a development of the Diamond HK36 Super Dimona motorglider, powered by a 80 hp (60 kW) Rotax 912 and certified in 1993.
The Diamond D-Jet is a composite, five-seat, single-engine jet aircraft.
